Here's what we've got today:
🏆 A QR code, a deleted repost, and $141,120 gone in hours.

By the end of this month, Elon Musk is about to shock the world again.
And will unleash enough wealth to make every household in America $2.38 million.
LOSS OF THE DAY 🏆
Every day we crown one person who made the worst financial decision on the internet.
Today's winner scanned a QR code. That was the trade.
Here's the setup. On October 23, Pump.fun co-founder Alon reposted an image from crypto trader Kimchi on X. The image contained a QR code linking to a brand-new Solana token called $KIMCHI.
The repost sent it to a $15 million market cap in minutes. Our guy saw the co-founder of one of crypto's biggest launchpads apparently endorsing it.
He bought $144,000 worth.
One problem: it wasn't an endorsement. Or if it was, it was temporary.
Alon deleted the repost. Kimchi deleted the original post. Kimchi removed Pump.fun from his X bio. Every trace of the partnership-gone.
$144,000 became $2,880. A 98% loss triggered by a deleted social media repost.
Blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain flagged $385,000 in early-wallet profits before the crash. Translation: someone made money on this. It was not our guy.

"The Pump.fun co-founder reposted it. How was I supposed to know it was temporary?" Saw the QR code. Saw Alon's repost. Figured if the co-founder of the platform is signal-boosting it, the token has legs. Put $144K in at a $12M market cap. Two hours later the repost is gone, the original is gone, Pump.fun is scrubbed from the bio. Market cap went to $284K. Top comment: "Your due diligence was a QR code. You deserved every pixel of that red candle."

| What's Pump.fun? It's a Solana-based platform where anyone can launch a token in seconds. Thousands launch daily. An October Bitquery study found 79% of launches in its sample recorded no trading activity after their launch day. A first $KIMCHI token launched October 20 showed three wallets turning $7,332 into $111,748 before buyers showed up. |
TODAY'S CASUALTIES 💀
Not everybody can be Loss of the Day. But these two gave it a real shot.
Let's run through the tape.
Casualty #1: The Governance Voter
There's a rule in DeFi that nobody follows. If you can't read the smart contract, don't deposit your money in it.
u/stacks_whale_26 deposited $47,300 worth of stSTX into Arkadiko, a lending protocol on the Stacks blockchain.
Arkadiko lets users collateralize assets and mint a stablecoin called USDA. It had been running for two years. The docs looked professional.
Here's the thing. On October 22, someone submitted a malicious governance proposal. The community voted it through. The contract drained the vaults.
Two million stSTX and 1.65 sBTC. Gone. TVL dropped 90% in one transaction.
His $47,300 vault was emptied to $312. USDA lost its dollar peg immediately.

"14 people voted on a governance proposal and it drained my entire vault" Had $47,300 in stSTX collateral on Arkadiko. A malicious proposal passed through governance and the contract emptied every vault. My balance went from five figures to $312. Top comment: "That's not decentralized finance. That's a group chat with your money in it."
|
| Quick explainer on governance attacks: In many DeFi protocols, token holders vote on proposals that change how the protocol works. If an attacker accumulates enough voting power, they can pass a proposal that redirects funds to their own wallet. It's democracy, except the electorate is 14 people and the ballot says "give me your money." |
The thesis hasn't changed. The account balance has.

Casualty #2: The Saturday Night Speculator
This one requires a brief explanation: you can now lose money on stocks when the stock market is closed.
u/perps_after_dark went 30x long on tokenized NVDA perpetuals on Hyperliquid at 5:14 UTC on Sunday, October 18. His margin: $42,800.
His thesis: Wall Street is closed. The stock can't move. Free premium collection.
At 5:22 UTC, a sell wave hit tokenized chip-stock perps. In ten minutes, $52 million in leveraged positions were liquidated across the board.
His position was gone by 5:27 UTC. Thirteen minutes from entry to zero.
For context: 30x leverage means a 3.3% move against you is a total wipeout. The tokenized NVDA perp dropped 4.1% in those ten minutes.

| What are tokenized stock perps? Crypto exchanges offer perpetual futures contracts that track the price of real stocks like NVDA. They trade 24/7 with up to 50x leverage. The catch: when traditional markets are closed, there's less liquidity, so prices can move faster and more violently than the underlying stock ever would. |
He posted a screenshot at 5:34 UTC with the caption: "is there a way to un-leverage." There is not.

BITE-SIZED COPIUM FOR THE ROAD 🍪
The best part of any loss thread isn't the screenshot. It's the comments section.
Here are today's greatest hits.
| • | "The repost was deleted, not the project. Fundamentals haven't changed." Sir, the fundamental was the repost. That's the part worth understanding. - u/still_kimchi_pilled |
| • | "AI infrastructure is a generational trade. I'm not selling." You can't. Your broker already did. - u/ai_bag_secured |
| • | "Tokenized perps let you lose money on weekends too. More flexibility than TradFi." That is technically accurate and deeply upsetting. - u/weekend_liquidated |
| • | "I'm not down 98%. I'm early to a $284K market cap project." The only thing you're early to is the post-mortem. - u/qr_code_millionaire |
Translation: the copium supply hit all-time highs this week. Self-awareness remains in a structural deficit.
See you tomorrow. New losses, fresh copium, same dosage.
